Your Questions About World Of Warcraft Mounts

Joseph asks…

How to get new World of Warcraft mounts?

After level 20, How do you get NEW mounts?
I am a mage blood elf, and i have the wierd bird mount.
How do I get a new one?

dknol answers:

Either buy from other factions (you need to be exalted with them), some quests, or get a mount from a dungeon.

At level 20 though, your choices are pretty much which mount do you want from your own city's vendor. Mounts from quests and dungeons are very, very rare. Check out and see what you can get.

Maria asks…

where can i get World of warcraft mounts?

i am a human paladin and i was wondering if i could get any mounts other than a horse of griffin without purchasing them or doing anything crazy hard.

dknol answers:

Depending on your level, there are a few mounts that you cn get very easily.

The Netherdrake is a pretty easy one to get if you have about a month to do nothing but farm for the eggs for the quest chain.

The Time-Lost Protodrake is one of the coolest mounts in the game and requires only that you download an addon called _NPCScan, and that you are at least level 80. The Time-Lost Proto is dropped of a rare spawn in the Storm Peaks named, get this, Time-Lost Protodrake.

At level 80, you can also run Heroic: Culling of Stratholm, and if you complete it in a set time, you get a 100% chance of getting a Bronze Drake.

An Obsidium Sanctum run with all three drakes not killed (This will make more sense after you've been there) will drop a Black Drake, or in the 25 man version, the Twilight Drake will drop. Farming Onyxia's Lair and The Eye of Eternity will get you a chance at a Blue/Azure (10/25) or an Onyxian Drake. Both drop rates are very low, but the mounts look awesome.

If you wait until October or November when Hallow's End or Brewfest comes around, there are also very cool mounts that drop from there.

The easiest mount to get as of right now only requires you to be level 60 and have an Engineering skill of 300. Leveling Engineering to 300 is very easy now that Cataclysm is out and everyone is making a ton of money and the materials to make the machine itself is very easy to obtain as well.

My best advice to you, however, is to keep your Gryphon and get to level 85 as soon as possible. Mounts are cool, but experiencing the game only comes at level cap. Sure, being the only person riding a Time-Lost Proto would be very cool, but being the only person with the “Defender of a Shattered World” Title? Even cooler. Save up your gold, get geared, and down Sinestra, Al'Akir, and Nefarian. The thrill of the fights will way overcome the thrill of flying for the first time, and downing them beats anything else in the game.
