Working visa medical requirements in UAE?
@h Is this news is true about working visa medical requirements
UAE lifeline for Hepatitis, tuberculosis job aspirants
Asma Ali Zain
12 August 2010,
DUBAI — Hepatitis and tuberculosis are no longer deportable offences in the UAE except for a category of workers, according the new medical fitness testing rules published by the Dubai Health Authority on its website. However, implementation date of the new federal ruling is expected to be announced by the Ministry of Health soon.
As per the details published on the website, testing for Hepatitis B and C, highly infectious diseases of the liver and tuberculosis, are no longer part of the medical fitness testing rules that have been compulsory before obtaining a work permit or residency in the country until now.
However, people working as food handlers, maids, restaurant workers, nannies and educators/teachers are still required to undergo testing for Hepatitis and HIV as well as have a chest X-ray done. All other categories, including dependants such as housewives and parents, are only required to undertake the HIV test, both for new visas and renewals. Those testing positive for HIV will not be allowed to take up residency in the country.
A health ministry official had told Khaleej Times earlier that the new law was approved but did not give details. The changes have been approved but I cannot say what exactly unless we receive the approved copy of the law,” said Dr Mahmoud Fikri, CEO of Health Policies at the ministry.
Medical fitness centre representatives have said they have not been given any instructions regarding the changes. “We we heard changes are coming but until now we have not been given any go ahead,” said an employee requesting anonymity.
Residents going for medical testing before visa renewals have said the delay in the implementation of the law is affecting the status of their residency. A new resident of the country hopes the changed law will allow him to reunite with his family. “My wife tested positive for Hepatitis B and was not given a residency permit,” he said on the condition of anonymity.
“With implementation of this law, I hope to reunite with my family,” he said.
Likewise, a number of residents who have already landed jobs in the UAE have said they are eagerly awaiting changes in the law. “I have been given a paper that says I am medically unfit because I have Hepatitis though I have got an office job recently. I am very worried since I only have a few days left for my visit visa to expire,” said Umar S. “I may lose my job.”
Others hoped to be able to enter the country after being deported for either of the diseases. “During medical screening for my visa renewal, I was found to have TB of initial stage,” said S. Kumar.
“After being given 15 days treatment I was deported earlier this year. Will the changed rule mean I can come back?” he questioned.
I don't know if it's true or not but I don't think Mrs. Zain would publish something without any background check. I personal hope Hepatitis B + C and also TB will stay deportable diseases.
Also when I feel sorry for any infected person, one has to think about the healthy people also.
Maybe a pre medical test will be requested before issuing a visa for employees? Who should bear the costs for treatment of chronical sick people?
Let's see what will happen. Laws and rules change quickly in the UAE.
Why, if all cultures are equal, is this 13 year old girl getting 90 lashes for having a cell phone at school?
For you progressives out there that preach constantly about “all cultures being equal” and we cannot judge any particular culture…what about this?
A 13-year-old Saudi schoolgirl is to be given 90 lashes in front of her classmates after she was caught with a mobile camera phone.
The girl, who has not been named, was also sentenced to two months in jail by a court in the eastern city of Jubail.

THIS IS EVEN BETTER! Aren't you glad they shut down this “illegal” gym for women?
Health authorities in Jeddah have shut down an “illegal” women's fitness centre attached to a hospital, closing one of the few venues where Saudi women are able to exercise, local media said on Wednesday.
Although health officials have repeatedly blamed the high rates of heart disease and diabetes in the kingdom on poor diets and lack of exercise, health authorities said women's fitness centres were not allowed.
Remember you progressives, according to you all cultures are equal so, beating little girls and denying women rights is OK, right?
Matthew: Funny how you prove my point, as we, as a culture evolved and no longer practice that…but this bass ackwards culture in Islamic nations hasn't changed for thousands of years, and yet we are told that it is the same as us and just as valid and equal to us..
Ambivalent: really? Progressives don't say that?
Then what about this?
Enter many American classrooms and you will find a multiculturalist curriculum that paints all cultures as morally equal. Take a course in comparative religion and you'll often see disparate faiths cast merely as equally valid (or equally invalid) competing myths. Of course, the preponderance of this phenomenon extends well beyond the walls of the academy.
To lay claim to any kind of superiority on behalf of your culture or religion is considered very bad form in today's polite society. Dare to do so and you'll often be rebuked with the favored mantras of the day: “Those are your values, someone else's may be different,” “Don't impose your values on me,” or perhaps, “Don't be so judgemental.”
I'm waiting to hear from the liberal champions of diversity on this one. Will they say, “Sure, we may not approve of beating one's daughter to death over a headscarf but let's remember that in other cultures they see it very differently. Why should we impose our parochial Western morality on others?” In Canada there may be judges crazy enough to let the murderer walk free. In the United States, I suspect we won't hear too much of this. The reason is that the American brand of cultural relativism is basically a fraud. It's a device to undermine and attack Western institutions and practices. Yet cultural relativism is quietly abandoned when it produces results that liberals don't like.
I hope you're not expecting anything more than spin from the libtards…they have no logical or factual answers…

I don't recommend colon cleanses at all. Your body is perfectly capable of cleaning itself – if you give it what it needs.
First of all, lets see if you actually even need to lose weight. Many people think they need to lose weight when it's not necessary. You can estimate your body fat content by using our body mass index calculator or body mass index tables. Your BMI (body mass index) can be a good indicator of the percentage of body fat you have.
If you want to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way, stay away from diet pills that reduce your appetite, and don't restrict calories too much, both are counterproductive to what you want – healthy weight loss that you will be able to sustain. When you come off your diet plan and do start to eat again, you will be sure to gain back whatever weight you lose, and you'll more than likely gain back more weight than you originally lost.
When you diet by not eating, or drastically reduce your diet, your body perceives itself as starving and lowers your metabolism (how fast you burn calories at rest) to compensate. Instead, you should go for weight loss in a healthy manner that will be sustainable instead of yo-yo dieting.
Raise your body's metabolism in a healthy way just by eating! Your body actually raises its' metabolism each time you eat. What you should do is take your normal diet and spread it out over 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day. This will help keep your metabolism at a higher level throughout the entire day. You're just about guaranteed to lose weight without even changing your diet. This tip alone will aid you greatly in your endeavor to lose unhealthy body fat.
Stay away from the obvious things – cookies, cakes and candies. Soda is a real killer; one twelve ounce can of soda will support about 11 pounds of body weight for a body at rest for an entire day. Don't eat anything within 4 hours of going to bed. And stay away from things made with white flour; your body processes it just like sugar. Eat foods made from whole grains instead.
Any exercise (walking, cycling, etc.) that you do for more than twenty continuous minutes kicks in the fat burning machine and will help you lose weight. After twenty minutes, on average, your body starts to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. Anything you can do beyond that point is a bonus. Also, if you can do your exercises first thing in the morning it will give your metabolism a boost for the entire day helping you even more in your endeavor to lose even more weight.
Does weight training for men help reduce adominal fat as study shows for women?
The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and is being presented Friday at an American Heart Association conference in Phoenix showing the merits of weight training in women to reduce adominal fat(Web site article below). My question is does this also apply to men? I am overweight and walking a good amount(1 hour 5 days per week). Do I integrate weight training for 2 or 3 of these hours?
It is easier for men to lose the fat on their stomachs then woman. Try to incorporate jogging into the walking. Defiantly do weight training and start doing Ab exercises they will help tremendously. But running and jogging will help burn up those calories. And if you have a bad diet start changing that to you will then have less calories to burn and then the exercise you do will help focus on the stored fat on your body.
