Can I plug my MP3 player directly into a car amplifier without using a receiver?

I would like to have a system in my old truck using JUST an amp, 2 speakers and an MP3 player without buying a standard stereo receiver. Is this possible?

Lisa asks…

How can I convert Mb to minutes or amount of songs on a MP3 player?

I am trying to figure out which MP3 player to buy, so I need to know how to convert Mb to minutes/songs.

dknol answers:

At 128 kilobits per second (kbps), it is about 768 kilobytes per minute. That is 0.768 megabytes (mb). That is the standard for itunes and some other music stores. From there, you may be able to do math, if that made any sense. Ik, i sound like a geek. Sorry.

Joseph asks…

How do I load music from itunes to a store brand MP3 player?

I couldn't afford a “real” ipod so I settled for a Craig MP3 player. I bought a song from itunes, hooked up the USB cable to PC and the MP3, the screen reads … READY…… I ran the installation disk. Now what do I do? How do I get itunes to reconize an off brand MP3?

dknol answers:

The iTunes media player is ONLY for iPods. Music purchased from iTunes is ONLY intended for iPods. Your Craig mp3 player will only work with certain media players. There must be somewhere in the box that says what media player you should use. If there is no mention of what media player you should use you might not need one. According to this previously asked question all you need to do is drag and drop the media files directly into the mp3 drive located in My Computer: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060901065321AA6i9tA

If you already downloaded a bunch of songs from iTunes use this site to strip the music of its DRM-protection: http://hymn-project.org/
