Your Questions About Health And Fitness Magazine

Michael asks…

When have men ever looked like what they do in fitness magazines?

Im currently looking at a Men's Health magazine and on the cover is the picture of a man with chiseled chest, six pack abs, and arms of steel. As my mind wandered i thought of the movie 300 and the way the movie portrayed them, basically looking the same way. However, other than perhaps that small period, when in the history of the world have the majority of the men ever looked like what they do in the fitness magazines? Did the romans legionaries all have six packs? I mean did the Knights of Medieval Europe look like that? Perhaps George Washington or General Robert E. Lee in his younger years? Do the majority of the soldiers in the worlds armies look like that? I use military examples because out of all men in the world, it would seem a solider would have the most reason to look as such, but my query isn't limited to the military field. Have men ever really looked like they do on the cover of fitness magazines?

dknol answers:

Yes. Dedication to fitness and a good diet can eventually lead to a good physique. Years ago, people didn't have the knowledge or diets to make the kind of body you see with today's models and bodybuilders.
Today's athletes are worlds ahead of the past athletes. It's not to be compared justly.

Carol asks…

What are the laws of access for minors regarding tabacco sales?

TO be clear, I am not attempting to sell tabacco! I am doing research for an article I'm writing for Health and Fitness Magazine.

dknol answers:

In the state of Indiana it is a $500.00 fine to the person that sells a tobacco product to any person under the age of 18 and a $1000.00 fine to the shop owner

Have men ever really looked like they do on the cover of fitness magazines? Or is this just a modern happening?

dknol answers:

I doubt any of the people you mention looked like the guys in magazine covers. To get that look you have to workout and actually strive to gain muscle. While soldiers were definitely stronger than average humans and more fit than most humans today , they didn't have time to go workout and lift weights, as they were more concerned with other matters.

Extremely muscular men are just a very recent thing, as the discovery of how to build strength deliberately, in order to achieve that appearance is a very recent thing. As well as the fact that only recently have a lot of men had time to work on their bodies.

Richard asks…

Shape or Self Magize, which one is better?

I'm 20yrs old and I want to subscribe to a health/fitness magazine. I have only bought random issues of these two magazines and I am not sure which one would be better to keep me updated with an overall group of things such as fitness, health, beauty, HELP!

dknol answers:

I like Self better 'cause the have a variety of workouts. Almost everytime I have checked out a Shape issue they always had workouts that you needed weights for. Not hand-weights, but the kind at gyms. I don't go to gyms so that didn't work for me. Self also does alot on health and beauty too. They have websites you can check out. The links are below that way you can get a better idea about them.
