Your Questions About Can My Computer Run Wow Cataclysm

George asks…

Please help i am looking for a desktop computer?

I am looking for a desktop computer that would run fairly low graphics games like Diablo 3, wow cataclysm, star wars old republic, etc. I do not want to spend over $1000. I am looking for something between $400-$600 without the monitor. I am not looking for a hardcore gaming computer as those cost $1000 at the least, only one that would run fairly low graphics games like the ones listed above. Help appreciated.

Do you need a certain graphics card for every computer?

So my Video Card er Graphics card er whatever its called keeps crashing everytime I play WoW: Cataclysm. I have a 4 year old computer with 2g ram and 2 tb hard with some intel processor that I can‘t remember the name of.. my question is, if I want to replace by graphics card, well I have to find a certain type of card for my individual computer? or will any type of card work?

dknol answers:

You will need a card that fits your computer's slot type (probably PCI-Express) and works with your existing power supply. Higher-end cards require more power, so if you've got a machine that wasn't built for gaming to begin with, you'll need to restrict your choices to fairly low-powered cards or upgrade your computer's power supply.

For example, the GeForce GT240 and Radeon HD 5570 run fine on a 300W power supply, but the Radeon HD 5670 requires a 400W power supply. Faster (and more expensive) cards like the GeForce GTX 460 and the Radeon HD 6850 require a 500W power supply.

How to install World of Warcraft on Windows 8?

I've been trying for days to install my WoW battle pack to my computer that runs Windows 8. Everytime I put the first disc in, it recognizes it, and loads it, but it thinks it's the trial. So the screen comes up, and it says Mists of Pandaria instead of what the first disc is called. Other people are running WoW on W8, so I know it's possible. I've even tried clicking the setting “run a program made for a different version of windows”, but the same thing happens: It comes up as the trial. Please help me, I've spent like 50 bucks on all this, and all I want to do is play some WoW. Thanks in advance.

dknol answers:

I got you, my man.

First, take the serial codes for the Battle Chest out. These are the only thing you need. Now throw away all the dumb CDs and import your serial codes into you Battle.net account.

WoW always runs off the most recent DLC's edition, in this case, everyone will be playing WoW: Mists of Pandaria much as everyone played WoW: Cataclysm before. Download WoW: Mists of Pandaria and log in with your Battle.net account after you activate the expansion packs you got with the Battle Chest (I'm assuming it was Burning Crusade and WotLK?).

So download the same client everyone else uses online. It will take a while to download, but it's better than messing with disks.

Now, you will have access to the first two DLCs because that's what the battle chest has. After it's all downloaded and installed, enjoy.

Helen asks…

What is a laptop i could get that is pretty cheap that could run WoW:Cataclysm on normal or low-normal?

i would prefer if i got awnsers that werent saying to get a custom computer from a website. i would appreciate if you could find off websites like best buy and places like that thank you

dknol answers:

Intel Processor -Pentium D 3.0GHz (Or better)
Nvidia Graphics Card-GeForce 8600 GT (Or better)
ATI Graphics Card-Radeon HD 2600 XT (Or better)
RAM (Memory) -2 GB(Or better)
Hard Disk Space-25 GB (Or better)
Direct X -9 (Or better)

I think these are the minimal requirements.
Just write this information on a piece of paper and take it to Harvey Norman or any other Electrical store and show it to them, and ask them to show you the computers with the hardware like that on the list.
