The price is not the problem here, the problem is whether I should get the macbook when it only has Intel® Core™2 Duo processor. It is worth it? Also I'm not too happy about buying all of the applications for mac, whereas windows has almost everything for free. HELP ME.
I need the computer for college. Something light and with log battery life.

dknol answers:

You cannot compare the hardware of any Mac with that of a normal computer, as it also depends on how demanding the operating system and software is of the hardware. Mac OS X performs better than Microsoft Windows, but with lesser hardware. Mac OS X is the most easy to use operating system. Out of the box it is more secure than Microsoft Windows, simply because of the way Mac OS X is set up. The only way to decide which would be better for you is by answering this one simple question: Do you require any applications for Microsoft Windows or for Mac OS X? Software which is intended for Microsoft Windows does not function on Mac OS X out of the box and the other way around. Therefore if you require any applications which are intended for Mac OS X, purchase a Mac. If you require any applications which are intended for Microsoft Windows, purchase a HP for example.

James asks…

What is better a Dell inspirion 17r laptop or Mac book pro?

Seriously i want know which one last longer in terms of use and durability because Ive heard that people owning mac books they start encountering problems a year later after purchasing it that they need to replace the hard drive or even the motherboard on mac books but another question I ask is: Does apple sell only the brand at really high prices and offer bad quality?
I own an inspirion 17r right now and it works great but will it last longer than a mac book pro?

Not really, no. It'll play some games, but it's not what I'd call a “gaming laptop” as it won't run high-end games well.
