@wowrunner1 blizzard said only the western plaguelands will be cleansed in cataclysm. The only thing about eastern plaguelands that is changing is the level range will be lowered. So either later on in cataclysm or in a future expansion the eastern plaguelands will be cleansed. I think they are saving eastern plaguelands for later on because much more can be done there, like re-claiming stratholme for instance. It could be the final assault to wipe out the remaining scourge in plaguelands.

in the cataclysm, plaguelands will be free from the lich king’s taint. and maybe be re-named and those lands will be, a better place.
