The game you played before is Warcraft III You do need the internet and you have to subscribe ($15 a month) to play WoW. It is not the same as Warcraft III, you are 1 character going around doing quests. It's a MMORPG(online role playing game), while Warcraft III is a RTS (real time strategy) World of Warcraft is branched from Warcraft. But it's like your taking one of the characters (like the undead, orc, etc) and just playing that character. It's a pretty good game if you dont mind paying monthly. World of Warcraft is NOT the same as the game you played before. The game you played before is Warcraft III
