World of Warcraft has many many components to take into consideration. The business aspect, the gameplay, graphics, there are a lot of factors and it’s impossible for one person to just make it. You will first have to decide which part of the game you want to go into. Once you do, you will be assigned to be a member of that certain team. Animation, the process of making graphics move, deals with coding. You would be getting into coding and managing how a character moves, where it can move and all that good stuff. Coding is very repetitive. I tried to make pac-man, it’s not hard, but it’s not short either. It is a very long and arduous process. To join a company like Blizzard (which runs WoW), you would need some good grades. Especially if you actually want to be a developer of the game. If you are in it for the money – then forget it. Unless you become the head developer or head of your department you won’t be making much. If you want to join some industry like this and make money, you are going to have to go into business.
all the time and effort to develop this game is done by a team. not sure how many is the WoW team but it doesn involve from 20 to at least 100. you cannot create a game like WoW all by yourself because it would take a massive amount of time.
to get a certain aspect of gaming you need to take maybe C++ programming, graphic design (they also have 3D modeling classes) and others. There are some colleges that offer video game design as a major and focuses on that.
Even creating a flash game takes time and effort but if you major in video game design you can apply to some developer companies and get a seat on helping create a new latest game.
now i don’t know too much into it but I do know if WoW was just as easy to create you would have so many clones on different servers running worldwide. Good luck.
It would be written line by line…just like any other programs. :D
Seriously…depending on the person, high marks would be a major necessity. You would need Computer Programming (multiple languages, but C++ had better be one), Physics, Mathematics, Art…
Depending on what aspect you want to go into, it depends. If you want to be the number cruncher that creates the engine, you don’t need any artistic talent. If you want to be an animator, the line-by-line coding skills are optional. And so on…
Do a Google search for “Computer Game Creation.” There are several reputable colleges and Universities that offer courses and degrees in fields that would allow you to do just that. Some of them even offer e-classes. While the classroom may be virtual, the degree isn’t.
Good Luck!
well going to school like itt tech or wut ever will teach u that sort of thing so just search around on the net google make video games or computer anime class
As others have said, the development is definitely not done by a single person, but but several teams of people. Each team will likely have different requirements, and will probably require something extraordinary to get into any of the teams, given how many people want to be part of the company.
For example, graphic design would be helpful for creating game artwork, models, animations, backgrounds, etc. Computer science (programming) would develop the game mechanics. Writing would help for the storylines and quest text. There’s also stuff like Marketing/Econ/Business for the other spaects of the game that aren’f directly involved in the creation of the game itself but are also important parts of the game.
There are ‘video game colleges’, but these should be avoided. The programs are often very basic and broad in nature. You do not get enough training on any specific area of development. This leaves you unable to find a job in any particular area of development, for a video game or otherwise. Focusing on one particular aspec will get you much further and provide a lot more career options if/when video game designer doesn’t work out.
