How To Do A Quest On World Of Warcraft With A Friend?
Me and my friend both bought world of warcraft and want to do quests together.
Sometimes we do, (as in, if I kill one, both our counts go up) but sometimes we don’t. We go to the same person to accept the quest, we share the quest and we are in a group. What exactly do we need to do to ensure we can do a quest together?

You can only share progress on kill quests. You’ll each have to gather your own items on gathering quests or quests that require you to interact (click on a net to capture, etc).
Obviously, you’ll have to be grouped as well, and in the same zone.
With you friend targeted, right click on their portrait on the top of the screen and invite them to a group. now if the quest involves collecting items, then you cannot both get credit for the item if one of you gets it. but if it is a monster killing quest, then you both get credit for one kill.
BTW go to curse and download quest helper if you haven’t already. it is a very nice add on that makes questing a million times easier.
If you mean why can’t you share certain quests it’s because:
1> Some quests are chain quests, meaning one quest leads to another and so on. To be able to share a chain quest, you have to be at the same link of the chain to be able to share it. For example a quest chain starts with quest A and ends with quest E. If you are at quest D of the chain, you can’t share that quest with someone who has only done up to quest B. To be able to share quest D, your friend has to finish quest C first.
2> Some quest need certain items that are provided only by the quest giver, like vials you have to fill up with liquids from somewhere. If the other person doesn’t have that item, he/she can’t share that quest. He/she will have to go to the quest giver to get the required quest item necessary for the quest.
3> Some quests have level restrictions. If the other player is too low level for the quest, you can’t share that quest with him/her.
4> Some quests are class-specific quests. I know there are Druid only quests as well as Hunter, Warlock and Rogue only quests. Very likely, these quests can’t be shared. I don’t know if there are really race specific quests but I wasn’t able to finish a Draenei quest chain in Bloodmyst Isle with a Dwarf character. The quest chain just ends even though I know there’s one or two more that were supposed to follow. I suspect that there might be a similar quest chain in Silvermoon City that only Blood Elves can finish.
Ok, you both would need to be in a group!!!
/invite name
But you proably already know that =p
And you both would need to be in around 10 yards or so of each other to get credit for kills etc. But for some questions like drop item quests, if 1 item drops only ONE person gets it, but quests that you need to kill people, when you kill a person both of you get the kill credit ( if you both are in range ;P)
Well when I play I normally do not party up because it breaks the xp in half when you do so each person gets an equal amount, on the other hand a kill counts for both of you though, which makes it faster, sometimes if you are not the same class (hunter and a warrior for an example) a quest might only be for a hunter rather then a warrior, but that mostly happens when you are lower levels….
U are doing everything right. Its just sometimes, for some quests, u guys wont get a count at the same time. Like if a quest asks you and your friend to slay 6…uh murlocks, then youll both get the kill. But if u do a quest that asks you to kill a certain monster and get loot off it, then each player will get different times where they can loot quest item. cant get it both at the same time.
some quests are different.
Some quests are “drop” quests where u each need to pick things up. Some are kills where if it’s killed once, u both get credit.
In some drop quests, u can both loot the same corpse, sometimes u have to loot separate corpses.
U also have to be within maybe 30 yds or so of each other to make sure u both get credit.
click your buddy (target him) and right click his portrait (face). look for the option called “invite”. click that and he or she will have to accept. after that now you can quest together. you can share quests.
my advice is you only do the quests that are hard to do lets say it requires a group or even dungeons too. that way you’ll single out the easier stuff like catching rabbits (hypothetically speaking).
happy questing! oh and if you’re shu’halo psst me. my toon name is mr.rogers. hello neighbor. lol j/k.
How close are you when one of you kills? If you’re too far apart, then the person who’s not killing the mob will not get the experience or the kill. generally you don’t want to be more than about 50 yards apart.
party up, click on them right click portrait and click on add to group
if one of you is horde and the other alliance then you cant group up
To do a quest on WoW with a friend you just need to be in the same group.
Make a group with your friend
good question you click ‘co-op’
