How Do You Start A Raid In World Of Warcraft And What Are They Actually For?
I want to start a raid in world of Warcraft but I dont really understand how to do it and what the benefits of doing it are. Ive pretty much just played the game by myself and never really done many of the dungeons or anything like that. I have a level 65 warrior if that helps at all. If anyone can tell me how to do it I would appreciate it.

Some dungeons you can only 5 man it, which is a reg. party. A raid is when more then 5 people, do a dungeon that is hard and you need more then just 5 people to survive.
Some dungeons that are raids:
Onyxia’s Lair
Zul’Grub
Molten Core
Black Temple
Theres more too (I prob don’t know about the other ones)
Dungeons like Scarlet Monastary, Zul’Farrack, Scholomance are dungeons that you can only 5 man it. (theres more..waaay more)
If you want to start a raid, go to your char tab. (where you see what your wearing) and go to the raid tab. First of all you must have at least 1 person in the party. (it might be 5 people, but i’m pretty sure all you need is 1 person) then there should be a button that says form raid, or start raid, something like that. You can choose a main tank, main assitant, and raid leader. The chat for raid is /r and you must be in a raid to talk in raid chat.
Raid warning is /rw. You can do raid warnings in partys too. The main reason for raid warnings is when you want people to know something important.
Dungeons/ Raids that ur 65 can do:
Dungeons
Mana tombs (64ish)
underbog (63 thro 64ish)
Hellfire ramparts (60ish)
Blood Furnace (61-62 ish)
You can do Sethekk Halls. Its about 4 levels higher then you tho. (69ish)
Raids you can do:
Zul’Grub 60-64ish ?? bosses for me ( i’m lvl 70)
Onyxia’s lair The guards are 63 I’m pretty sure. Onyxia (the main boss..duh lol is lvl ?? for me too.)
Molten Core (i’m not sure, but i think its lvl 60-65) some things are ?? tho.
Black temple is lvl 70+
Karazhan 68+
In raids/partys for dungeons you should have
1 tank
3 dps
1 healer
And remember, the main reason for raids are when you want to do a dungeon, but you need more then 5 people. And also remember some dungeons cannot be done as raids.
I hoped this helped

Raids (a type of group) are parties of 6 to 40 people, divided into 2 to 8 groups of up to 5 players. The terms “raid” and “raiding” primarily and traditionally refer to PVE raid-specific instances and zones. As party leader, a player can convert their group into a raid group by accessing the “Social” Panel, selecting “Raid”, and choosing “Convert Group to Raid.” From then on, any new players invited to the group will join the raid group (up to a maximum of 40).
While in a raid group, players do not receive credit for completing quest objectives unless the quest calls for a raid. Players also receive an experience reduction for any mob killed while in a raid group. These are to prevent players from creating very large groups in order to complete normal quests or other game content intended for parties of 5 or fewer. This experience reduction is simply that the usual “group XP bonus” is not applied while in a raid group.

Essentially, raids are large parties. They are used to clear difficult encounters typically found in special instances, as opposed to a normal 5-person dungeon. They are typically only required for end-game PvE.
To start a raid in WOW You hit “O” and go all the way over to raid and click the switch ot raid button. To do this you have to have you and at least another person. Raids in wow are used for end level gear and items that are not obtained unless you are working with a group of 10-40 players with some end level gear. For you to raid though you need to concentrate on hitting 80 because all the raids that you can do are obsolete and useless.
a raid depends. At level 65 your probably doing dungeon raids.
what they are for is, thedre are some dungeons tht 5 players cannot handle. So you form a raid group with like 10 or 25 people…then you can manage the raid. Raids at top level are insane. A raid for level 70 is Karazhan in deadwind pass. Top level raids like lvl 80 are maniac. go on utube and type in obsidium sanctum heroic . thtas a raid man lol
You press O then you click raid then wait a while to see if people will join. The benefits are that you complete all the achievements then you get a prize like a black war bear. I think lvl 65 is to low for aiding a major city but if you want to do a dungeon go to Molten Core in the outlands
Before doing a raid, start doing instance dungeons. Find a group, join a group, form a group, however you do it, but DO IT. The raid stuff can come later. The instances are the source of all the best gear and the highest experience.
It’s basically you and a bunch of friends that go into either a dungeon or just straight to a boss and just kill everything in sight as fast as you can and get tons of loot and exp.

all depends on your time.
Raiding is sort of like an instance, but instead of 5 people includes (usually) 10 to 40 people, all of then requireing the max level for the expansion it came out of (For example, Black Wing Lair is for the original game, so you would need to be at least level 60. For Tempest Keep, level 70, and so on.) For WotLK and BC expansions, there are 10 man raids and 25 man heroic raids, with 10 man being easier then the 25 mans. They also are a bit more challenging then instances, requiring to kill a boss a certain way, or having certain players distract adds while fighting a boss. Raids are a way to get your gear to the highest level possible at that level, but normally people wait on doing raids until they reach level 80 and go through the newer raids. Nowdays, any raid before WotLK is normally ran either to get a cool looking weapon or to get an achievement for completing it.
My personal oppinion? I would level up to 80 and then start trying some raids. Most people nowdays, however, want you to be somewhat decently geared and hit capped to raid with them, so doing some Heroics would before would help as well. The earlier raids in Old World and BC can be done without being geared up much at all, as long as the other players in the raid are decent levels.
http://www.wowwiki.com/Main_Page has some more information on how to do the raids and what you should expect from each of them.
Hope this helps some!
