Use the installer that comes with the game.
Just enter the ‘path’ (where you want to install it) in the dialog box when you install it.
You may get an ‘error notice’ like the following:
The ‘path’ you entered does not exist, would you like this installer to create it?
Answer (click) Yes.
It will then install the game at the location you specified, IF the installer is smart enough.
Some installers are not that smart, what to do.
Use Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
Click the external drive to open it.
Click on the ‘root’ or ‘main’ folder.
Right-click on it > New Folder
Type WOW in the dialog box
You now have a folder (sub-folder) called WOW.
(Re)Install game, and put (drive designation letter, and folder in the dialog box when installing, such as:
G:WOW (If the external drive is designated as G.
Do not forget the last backslash or it will install it in another WOW folder and not under the WOW folder you created.
Not that it would matter, but you may end up with an empty G:WOW folder.
My way gives you some much needed experience.
