I had the same proble. took the unit apart (video from youtube), disconnected battery; unplugged the hard drive; plugged it back in. reset the battery. reassembled and viloa! it works now.
DUDE OH MY GOD!!! YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID. YOU ARE SO AMAZING! My pause/play button wasn’t working all day and I was sad cause I don’t want my Zune to be broken. OMG, thank you sooooooo much. You are awesome!

I have a zune 80, and i have tried this many times it doesn’t work. Its been stuck on lit up black screen, no logo, nothing, and i can turn it off, but it just goes back to the black screen when i turn it off.
Somebody please help me I do not want to buy another mp3 player!
