Yea, ipod IS an mp3 player. The formatting is different on it, I think. You’re just paying for the namebrand. Yes, they have all the cool accessories, but, is it REALLY worth it???
As far as an mp3 player, I’ve had several now, and each have lasted years and years. I would NOT switch to an ipod even if you paid me!
They are windows based, most of the time. The software on some is easy as pie! Some have the copy/paste or drag’n'drop interface so all you have to do is take it from the computer, and in it goes to the mp3 player! No reformatting necessary, because some will play a wide array of different formats. Mine is set up in sync to my computer library, so if I put my music in my library, it’s automatically loaded onto my mp3 player, as long as it’s plugged into the comp. Tell me. What could be easier?!?!
The price on mp3 vs ipod is a big difference also. I got my 30 gig for the same price as a 5 gig ipod! MUCH more worth the money, believe me!!! I use (and probably abuse!) the space on my mp3 player by loading anything I want, and then some! I dj with mine a lot of times, since I’ve got my entire library on one device, instead of fumbling with cds. My entire library right now, could probably play for about 2 weeks straight, non-stop, without repeating anything!!! Can a 5gig ipod do that???? I think not! :oP
BUT, if you’re going to get an mp3 player, I might suggest getting one that plays videos too. Nowadays, there’s sooo much out there that you may want to have with you. They’re coming down in price too, which makes it much better for us little people.
Anyway, have fun with it! Check out all the different kinds out there! Creative makes a really easy to use interface, and makes some amazing mp3 players, be it a hard drive mp3, or a smaller one!
I hope this helps ya. I don’t mean to bash ipod. I never liked Mac or Apple.
;o)
iPods have the “cool factor” whereas MP3 players don’t.
iPods make you pay for every song or get them from virus-infested sites like limewire whereas a lot of MP3 players work with the newest on-demand music services. Unlimited downloads, millions of songs for the price of a CD per month.
iPods are overpriced and over-rated. MP3s do what iPods do and more.
Ipod is an MP3 player. A very inferior one at that. Most people get duped into thinking they are getting a good deal on the Ipod. However, there are other MP3 Players out there that are cheaper and more full featured than an Ipod are easy to use. For example I bought the Creative Zen Vision: M about half a year ago. Same price as the Ipod at the time. It has 30 Gb, Plays MP3s, WMAs, and other files, play Mpeg and xvid and divx videos, it had a radio in case you felt like listening to it. It also had a mike so you could record a class or something as well as the option to record what you are listening on the radio. My friend used to be an Ipod user and found himself getting a better MP3 player from Toshiba (i think it was Gigabeat?). In the end the Ipod is an MP3 player that forces you to stay within Apple’s boundaries. There’s much more out there than just Itunes.
Essentially, they both play music. iPods covert your mp3 files into m4a files to play on their software. what is SOOOOO WONDERFUL about iPods is the ease at which you can use them. Most other mp3 players are Windows based, and their user interfacing is difficult and doesn’t make sense. iPods have built in intelligence to make them less of a hassle. i believe that you made a great investment, as you would probably find other mp3 players very difficult to use.
There is no difference. An iPod is an mp3 player. Its just the name of the brand.
