Sony DSX-S100 Car Digital Media Receiver at CES 2010
At CES 2010, Sony Electronics showed off the DSX-S100 in-dash car receiver that is made for the iPod. It features an internal USB and flip-out tray designed for storing the iPod (or other USB MP3 player) inside of the stereo! While the Sony DSXS100 lacks a CD player, it makes up for it with the great iPod playback. This is great for those that have left CDs in the past and have upgraded their music collection to iPods. @harrisonite Yeah, it does get a bit hot
@1993TMAXX Kickers homie
@blkshp228 In most cases there is probably an amplifier already powering your OEM speakers. Lexus and other vehicles usually come equipped with a sound system that has a factory amplifier powering either the speakers or a separate subwoofer system.
You will most likely want to integrate your amplifiers with your new aftermarket radio, which in most circumstances is possible. You can also bypass you factory amps and have just your aftermarket deck driving the speakers.
i have a 2003 lexus IS300. i just want to change the Player. will i need an aplifier to power my OEM speakers?
@bittersweetrobbie Bose are always going to be the best brand of speakers, but they come with a hefty price tag
can’t wait to get mines in the mail
Awesome and very clever but it would have been nice if Sony included built-in HD in at least one DSX model.
@bittersweetrobbie The reason your speakers are distorting is because you don’t have an amplifier on them. Pioneer’s TS-A1674R speakers require less wattage and are a perfect matchup to a stock or aftermarket stereo. These will sound full and won’t distort at higher volumes.
@1993TMAXX That is what I thought. I was assuming, by how some of the responders here, that the engine or something made it hot. I wasn’t sure what to think. But thanks for responding w/ the info. Can you tell me a bit more about how you’re enjoying the product?
@bittersweetrobbie For real, the best speakers you can get are alpine’s type s or type r. I have tried pioneers and sonys and have brought them back because the alpine are made of rubber around the woofer cone and provide better quality in sound. Thats what i think
@harrisonite Why would the ipod become hot? i have one of my own and it stays at good tempatures.
@Bakebreal People are concerned about the ipod/phone getting too hot. Did you find that to be true?
damn this guy read my mind i was gonna order it but wasnt sure if my Zune would work
wich speakers do you recommend me for a better sound (without amplifier), because i have 2 pionner speakers of 250 watts in the front and 330 watts in the back, but the sound gets distorted when i hear it loud even if i use the EQ
@luismiguellopezx Yeah, I works with any iphone. But It is not recomended to put it inside. It gets very hot…. well I won’t geopardize my expensive iphone… i just used a usb with 8 gb of music…. :)

Great idea which I wish could be integrated into all head units. If only it wasn’t so ugly and timely to navigate.
Got mine, and how convenient!!
Despite all my efforts I’ve yet to find someone who can tell me when this
unit is to go on sale in Europe. Anyone?
BOUT TO BUY MINE RIGHT NOW!
