I bought two of these for family members for Christmas based on all the reviews I read…. Neither one worked! One wouldn’t turn on at all, and the other worked for one day, then stopped. I have had to return both of them, much to my disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend buying!!!!

Bought my Zen Mosaic 2GB MP3 in Nov.2008 in order to listen to e-books
while I walk for exercise. I have an account at the public library and am authorized
to download books. Have listened to 2 books but now get messages that I am not
authorized to hear them any more. Impossible to get support from Creative.

The player is fine. The “Creative Centrale” software doesn’t work. I’ve installed it several times on my PC. Everytime I try to run it, it freezes. Emails to Creative have met responses such as “We suspect your music library is immense,” and recommended irrelevant adjustments in the settings. I’ve been a longtime consumer of creative players, but no longer. I strongly warn against buying any Creative Lab products that use this software.

I have had a Zen V Plus for about a year, and have been very pleased with it (great price, performance, features, etc. — awkward software, but it works once you get used to it).
Two weeks ago, I bought the Zen Mozaic as a gift. (I was hoping to get another Zen V Plus, but it seems the Mozaic is intended to be Creative’s market replacement. Also, everything about the Mozaic seemed to be an update of the V Plus and, given my pleasure with the V Plus, I figured this would probably be a little better.) Big mistake! One top feature is the viewing of video files. Creative totally messed up this time. The video conversion/transfer software crashes every time I try to use it. I made the attempt on three difference machines (two XP SP2, one Vista Home Premium), and to no avail. I wasted a whole day wrestling with the darned thing.
Returned the product, and am deeply suspicious of trying another Creative product ever again. Creative MUST invest in better management software. It doesn’t matter how great the hardware may be if the software fails.
