Hi Zachary,

It all depends on your requirements. If you are looking at something for Gaming purpose, it has to be Sony. Additionally Sony has a B/G/N compatible wireless connectivity support, whereas most Laptops have upto G compatible wireless.

If your requirement is for regular Office / Home / Internet / Email / movies etc, HP should do for you.

Update / Email in case of any queries or further help required.

Wireless..:)

Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Internal (2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate)
Dell Travel Mouse (with Bluetooth Technology)

I don’t game a lot, I play cpu resource easy games that hardly require any resources. Other than that, I really don’t game at all. So my overall question is; WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH INTEL CELERON PROCESSORS? Everyone says they are so bad. Oh, and if you can tell me if it’s good enough for minor gaming and everyday computing? Thx!

dknol answers:

There is noting rong wit celeron Processors. Only difrants is that all Processors have something what we call a “Cash” thats something like the ram of the Processors itself. Celeoron Processors have a L1 cash of just 256K thats low when compared wit the other Processors. (L2 cash has mostly 2do wit the motherbord then the Processors).
For your use this compter is more then enaf. Its only advised not 2 go for celeron Processors if ur a major game player other then that celeron works perfectly.

Mary asks…

sony vs. dell laptop?

I am looking at laptops for college and I am stuck between two at the moment, the Sony VGN-FW390 and the Dell Studio 15. I tried to get configurations as close as possible and it seems like the Dell is a lot cheaper, but the Sony is much sleeker and better looking. Here are the specs on both – tell me what you think I should do.

Sony:
-Intel Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40GHz)
-Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
-4GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2)
-250GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm]
-Blu-ray Disc™ Read Only Drive
-ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650 with 512MB vRAM
-LCD 16.4″ (XBRITE-FullHD™) – should be 1900 x 1080
-WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n) with integrated Bluetooth technology
$1270

Dell:
-Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition, 32-bit SP1
-Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
-15.6” Full High Definition (1080p) High Brightness LED Display with TrueLife™ and Camera/Facial Reco
-4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
-250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
-Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (no other option…)
-6X Slot Load Bluray (BD) Combo Drive (BD Read Only)
-Intel® WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card
$1139 – $250 coupon = $889
Thanks everyone, that was a lot of help. Jeff – had no idea that was the difference between 32 and 64 bit! Thanks!

dknol answers:

The Sony has a much, much better graphics card. As opposed to the onboard garbage graphics you’ll get with this Dell.

I prefer AMD CPU’s, but this Sony is a much better laptop for certain.

dknol answers:

The two laptop are both closely match although i would go with the ati graphic card becuase of the perfokrmace gain over the nvidia.

These two laptop are closely map and consider true rivals in my opinion the hardware all perform similar and close or equal too therefore i think it doesn’t matter which laptop u buy but just buy the one that look better to u and feel confortable.
