Your Questions About Auto Sound Systems Installed

Joseph asks…

I just overclocked my CPU and lost my sound.?

I just OC my CPU for the first time, and after I did, I lost my Audio. I’ve heard that this is common, and have tried to Google the solution and it seems most answers are to find a similar term like “Auto Detect PCI Clk” if possible, and set it as Enabled, after that set the parameter behind “Async AGP/PCI CLK” to 66/33MHz. unfortunately, I can’t find anything like that in my BIOS ( ihave a Gigabyte GA-785GMT-USB3). I also read that simply setting everything back to defaults will fix things, but it didn’t. I even removed my battery from my mobo,

Prior to me OC, my motherboard was already acting up. It wouldn’t even POST if I had more then one stick of RAM installed, which I thought was weird so I took out the other three. Then I figured that while I was waiting for my new board to come in I might as well test OC on this board, and am thinking that the fact that it was already a little messed up may have been the cause.

I know that when you increase the FSB, your whole system is increased as well, but I only took the FSB up by 5 (to 205), the rest was done by my multiplier. it’s hard to believe that 50 more Mhz would be such a difference that this would happen. If anyone has any input, then Id love to hear it.

and by the way, my processor is a Phenom II 955 Black Edition, if that will help at all.
When I say I lost my sound i mean that I get errors. My PC says “The audio Service is not running” when I put my cursor over the audio manager in the lower right hand corner. I even used a sound card as oppose to the onboard sound but still get the same thing. I hope this clarifies a little.
When I start the audio service, it searches for problems and comes up with, “Hardware changes might not have been detected.” It gives me an option to “explore additional options” but then it pretty much tells me to post a question on windows community and other similar options.

dknol answers:

This might not be any help, but i managed to bump mine up by about 45 without it having any affect on my pc. It might be a problem with the motherboard. Are you sure your audio jack is working correctly? As the motherboard overheating could have done something to the audio jack. Or is it software related?

That will sound good but you need at least 1/0 gauge wire for that amount of power. That box would be good for those subs too but you should use 8 or 10 gauge wire for subs

Betty asks…

Alternator and battery question!?

If i want to get these upgraded for a really big sound system in my car which included subs, amps speakers, tweeters, dvd players, dvd player head deck, flip down tv, neons, capacitors and heaps of other shit how do i know what size alternator and battery to get? Will an auto electrician be able to help me if i show him exactly what was going in my car and get him to install the battery and alternator before hand?

dknol answers:

Who ever is selling you your audio/video equipment will be able to advise you as to what electrical system up grades you need. Most of the higher end audio companies also manufacture their own models of alternators. You need the help of a professional audio technician. Most modern audio components are operated on voltage as opposed to current. You need to work out EXACTLY what you want to put in and then figuring your power requirements can be done. Have some idea what you want before you go in so they take you seriously. Walking into a shop and saying I want a crap load of stuff won’t get you very far.

I need to sell my truck! I have a new baby and it’s time to clean some things out, and unfortunatley my truck is one of the things that needs to go. Following are the stats.

1993 F150
Extended cab
Working 4×4
Auto transmission
351W motor that runs strong with 183K
New front fuel tank and comes with a replacement rear tank, I just haven’t had time to install it.
New front brakes
New passenger side wheel bearings
New Trans fluid and Filter
New rear Diff. Fluid
New High pressure fuel lines & Filter
Drop in bed liner
Diamond plate Bed rail caps(spraypainted black…)
The truck has steel wheels on it right now with decent tires, it also includes a spare as well as an extra set of Aluminum wheels with 31″ mudders. The aluminum wheels are decent but the tires are pretty well shot, they have good tread but are pretty dry rotted and I know one does not hold air well. The Paint job is 100% crappy red spraypaint, but it gets the job done. The body does have some rust mainly in the wheel wells and @ the cab corners, but hey, its a cheap old truck with 183k…..its not perfect. It runs great and the truck has made MANY trips to Auburn and to Warsaw with no problems. It makes for a great work truck or mud toy! Truck hauls well, I recently hauled 1800lbs of sand with no problems, bed has some rust on the exterior but overall the inside is clean and solid. I love my truck and am sad to see it go but…it needs to, I have more important things to worry about (and pay for!) I am motivated and would love to see it gone fast!!! (like the band-aid thing!)

Ruth asks…

Why Grand Theft Auto IV didn’t run on my PC?

The gta IV has released for PC.So yesterday I bought it from Wall-Mart.But when I tried to Install it It gives me error message like this:Your system is incompatible with P%.What should I have to do?Below is my System Information.
Operating System:Windows Vista Ultimate Service pack 1
Processor:Intel Pentium 4 3.2 G Hz. ;I bough it in 2004.
Graphic Card:Nvidia Geforce 7300 GS 512 MB.
RAM:2047 MB
Sound card inserted.
Sata 160 GB hard disk with 60 GB free space.

dknol answers:

Your video card and processor are far under the minimum requirements. There is a reason this stuff is listed on the box.

Minimum Requirements:
OS: Windows Vista – Service Pack 1 / XP – Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1.5 GB Vista / 1 GB XP
Hard Drive 16 GB Free Space
Video Card: 256 MB Nvidia 7900 / 256 MB ATI X1900

As you can see, it requires a dual core processor, which you don’t have. It also requires at least a Nvidia 7900 for a video card, you only have a 7300.
