For a USB device you have to be using Windows 98SE or later O/S. Try a different USB port the system should report the MP3 player the moment you attach it via the cable. You do have all your USB devices enabled in your Bios right? If not reboot go into setup and check the setting for all your USB devices be sure they are enabled. Then exit and save and go in to your system again. After the desktop is up and everything has finished loading plug in the MP3 player and see if your system detects it. If it doesn’t you could have a bad USB port try another one or problem may be with the MP3 player try it on another computer and see if it works. If you have another USB device you can check to see if its your system having an issue the the USB. If your USB don’t function no mater what you do you can buy a PCI USB card and add them to your system. Be sure to buy the USB 2.0 version. You can get one for under $16 on eWiz.
Just send me the computer and the MP3 player and forget your troubles.
Turn on your MP3 player. The computer can’t read it if it’s not turned on. If you still have a problem, reboot, then try again.
Reboot
